Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and provide a clear overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while housework time fell. Several key comparisons are also included, such as refrigerators reaching 100% by 1980 and vacuum cleaners reaching that level by 2000. This gives the response a solid account of the main trends. Some details, however, are less precise or developed: the refrigerator is described as “not popular” in 1920 rather than giving its very low figure of about 2%, and the washing-machine dip to around 65% in 1980 is omitted. The overview also says housework fell to 10 hours, whereas the chart ends at about 11. More precise reporting and a fuller comparison of the appliance trends would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response is arranged in a sensible sequence: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” “Moreover,” and “Meanwhile” help signal relationships between points. The progression is generally clear, although some connections are mechanical or awkward. For example, “from 2000 to 2019 the vacuum cleaner ownership was also 100%” could be integrated more smoothly with the preceding comparison, and the final sentence strings several years and figures together without clear punctuation. Use more controlled sentence boundaries and connect comparisons explicitly—for instance, contrast the steady rise in vacuum-cleaner ownership with the washing machine’s temporary decline.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “ownership,” “percentage,” and “declined,” so the main information is understandable. However, the range and control are uneven, with several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions. Examples include “gragh,” “illustartes,” “vaccum,” and “climed”; these errors are noticeable in a short report. Phrases such as “the percentage in 1920” and “its percentage was 100%” are also vague, while “washing machine proportion” is not a natural collocation. Aim for accurate chart-reporting language such as “the share of households owning…” and “reached 100%,” and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually clear. The opening sentence, for example, introduces the chart contents in a complete structure, while “Overall, the ownership of appliances climbed…” gives a clear summary pattern. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in comparisons and sentence construction. “Between 1920 to 2019” uses an incorrect preposition pattern; write “between 1920 and 2019.” The phrase “from 2000 to 2019 … was also 100%” needs a clearer subject and time relationship, and the final sentence lacks punctuation between several clauses. There is also a number mismatch in “10 hour.” More accurate comparison structures and clearer clause boundaries would improve control.
