Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the broad topic and mention several relevant trends, including the rise in refrigerator ownership and the decline in housework. However, the response reports key figures inaccurately: refrigerators did not reach 100% in 1920; they rose from about 2% to 100% by 1980. You also confuse the appliance series, claiming washing-machine ownership rose to 100%, when it remained around 65–75%. The overview is incomplete, and the final sentence breaks off before giving the endpoint for housework. The response is also 25 words below the required minimum, leaving important comparisons and details undeveloped. To improve, give an accurate overview of all three appliances and the hours trend, then support it with selected figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “It is clear that” signal a summary. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the details are not grouped consistently: the third paragraph shifts between refrigerator and washing-machine figures, and some statements contradict one another. The final paragraph begins a relevant comparison but ends mid-sentence (“from 50 % to aron”), so the report has no complete ending. Use one paragraph for the main trends and separate detail paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework hours. Check that each sentence follows logically from the previous one and complete every comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ownership,” “fluctuated,” “peak” and “declined dramatically,” so the reader can recognise the intended subject and trends. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings reduce precision: “householdwork” is not the natural term, “Purchase of” is unsuitable for describing the percentage of households owning an appliance, and “brought” appears where “bought” or, better, “owned” is intended. There are also misspellings such as “vaccum,” “increaed” and “aron.” Aim for accurate chart language and check spelling carefully; terms such as “proportion of households,” “ownership level” and “remained stable” would make the report clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes some complete simple sentences and attempts a range of structures, for example, “It is clear that…” and “Purchase of vaccum cleaner also increased…”. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret. In “ownership of refrigerator rise drastically,” the article and verb form are incorrect; “the number of hours … declined” also needs a clear, complete comparison. The final sentence is unfinished, while “Washing machine figures rise from 30 % to maximum of 100%” has unclear structure and article use. Use past-tense verbs consistently for the historical period, check singular/plural agreement and articles, and ensure each sentence has a complete subject and verb. A final punctuation and sentence-completion check would help.
