Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two subjects and give a relevant overall trend: appliance ownership generally rose while housework time fell. However, the response addresses the task only partially. It reports just one appliance in the body, gives no figures for the other appliances or the housework graph, and ends mid-sentence at “till 198”, so the key comparisons are not developed. The claim that washing-machine ownership “remained moderate” also misses its rise from about 40% to 75%, despite a small dip. The response is 102 words, below the required 150, which contributes to the limited coverage. To improve, complete the report and select key figures across both graphs, including the refrigerator’s rise to 100% and housework’s decline from 50 to about 11 hours.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph beginning with refrigerator ownership. The overview also signals a contrast between appliance ownership and housework time. However, the response stops during the first body point, so there is no clear progression through the remaining data or a concluding comparison. Sequencing words such as “firstly” and “with the passage of time” provide some links, but the first sentence’s “two things separately, firstly … and secondly …” is cumbersome, and “However” does not clearly connect the washing-machine claim to the falling housework hours. Organise the body into clear comparisons, and use linking phrases to show how each trend relates to the overview.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “ownership,” “electrical appliances,” “housework,” and “consistently reducing,” so the reader can identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “demand” is not the same as household ownership, and “time of working in the house” is an awkward way to describe housework hours. Spelling errors such as “applicances,” “Vaccum,” and “grately” are noticeable, while “used almost everyone” does not express appliance ownership clearly. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling. For example, describe the “proportion of households owning” an appliance and say that housework hours “declined” rather than that they were “reducing.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, including the opening sentence and the contrast beginning “While the demand…”. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms sometimes make the meaning unclear. “The line graphs illustrate two things separately” is awkwardly structured, while “number of hours of housework consistently reducing” lacks a finite verb; write “the number of hours spent on housework consistently decreased.” The phrase “it was used almost everyone” also has an incomplete grammatical pattern; use “it was owned by almost every household.” The final sentence is incomplete and ends at “198”. Practise complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and proofread punctuation and sentence endings.
