Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and identify the main overall patterns: appliance ownership generally increased, while weekly housework time fell. Several figures support this, including washing machines at 40% in 1920 and 70% in 1960, and housework declining from 50 to 20 hours by 1960. This meets the task well, with some evidence of the more detailed reporting expected at a higher level. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: refrigerators began at about 2%, not “nothing,” and reached 100% in 1980; the final housework figure is about 11 hours, rather than 10. The washing-machine trend is also described vaguely as fluctuating, without clearly reporting its small dip and subsequent recovery. More precise comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “furthermore,” and “Moreover.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly “while the other chart provide number of consomasion hourly into week” and the long sentence beginning “according to what is shown.” Several ideas are joined with commas, making the progression harder to follow. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise the appliance details in a consistent order, then report the housework trend in a separate, concise paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to describing trends, including “dramatic,” “fluctuated,” “peaked,” “dropped,” and “remain stable.” These choices show awareness of the language needed for a chart summary. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are frequent enough to make some phrases difficult to understand, as in “consume of refrigerator,” “too mush consume,” and “speed evolution.” “Consomasion” and “gowth” also obscure the intended meaning. Aim for precise, conventional trend language rather than forcing less suitable expressions: for example, say that ownership “rose sharply” or “increased steadily.” Careful proofreading of spelling and word forms would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the response communicates the broad trends despite grammatical problems. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, especially where several clauses are joined together: “washing machine begin with 40 percent … after that its got trends fluctuated.” There are also errors in tense and agreement, such as “the other chart provide” and “they are fell,” as well as missing or incorrect articles and sentence punctuation. These issues sometimes make relationships between figures and trends unclear. Practise forming accurate past-tense sentences with a clear subject and verb, and divide long sentences into shorter units. For example: “Ownership began at 40% in 1920. It rose to 70% in 1960, dipped slightly, and then increased again.”
