Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and identify the main contrast: appliance ownership generally rose while weekly housework fell. The overview also notes that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached full household ownership by the end. Several key figures are reported accurately, including washing machines at 40% in 1920 and 75% in 2019, and housework at 50 hours initially and 15 hours in 1980 and 2000. However, some details are inaccurate or incomplete: refrigerator ownership was about 2%, not 0%, in 1920; the 1940 and 1960 housework figures (35 and 20 hours) are omitted; and the final figure is about 11, not 10. The washing-machine trend also dips in 1980 before recovering. More precise coverage of these stages would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on appliance ownership and a final paragraph on housework. This makes the two chart topics easy to distinguish, and time markers such as “In 1920” and “After two decades” help establish sequence. However, the appliance paragraph moves through selected years while skipping 1960, and the repeated “After…” and “In…” openings make the progression somewhat mechanical. Some links are also unclear: “After four decades” refers to 1980, but the starting point is not explicit, and “After twenty years” could be more precisely tied to 2000. Grouping the appliance trends by comparable stages and using clearer references would improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “ownership,” “fluctuation” and “stood at,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the report less natural. Examples include “how many percentages,” “failites utilization,” “refregerators recored,” “dominating vacuum cleaner,” and “decreased straightly.” “Electrical appliance” should also be plural when referring to the three categories. Aim for precise, conventional chart language rather than forcing less familiar expressions: for example, say that ownership “rose” or “increased,” and that housework hours “fell steadily.” Careful proofreading would help make your vocabulary more accurate and consistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some longer sentences with time clauses and contrasts, such as “After two decades, In 1940…” and “In the same year, refrigerator reached 100%.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven. There are agreement and article problems in “The number of washing machines were higher” and “refrigerator reached 100%,” as well as awkward sentence construction in “the number of hours … decreased straightly, at 20 hours.” Capitalisation after commas is inconsistent, and several sentences combine multiple comparisons without clear grammatical links. Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, and forming accurate comparison clauses; then check punctuation and sentence boundaries. More consistently controlled complex sentences would strengthen the report.
