Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify both charts and report the broad decline in housework, including the fall from 50 hours in 1920 to about 10 in 2019. However, the appliance account is incomplete and sometimes unclear: the refrigerator starts at about 2%, not 0%, and you omit the major rise in vacuum-cleaner ownership and the near-universal ownership of refrigerators and vacuum cleaners by the end. There is no clear overview comparing the main trends, and the final claim that people are “happy now” is not shown by the data. The response also falls 23 words short of the 150-word minimum; the 23 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the key comparisons and include accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: it introduces the charts, discusses appliances, then turns to housework and ends with a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of progression, and the two chart topics are separated into paragraphs. However, links between ideas are often mechanical or unclear, as in “after some year in 1940 furthermore,” while “Second chart” is a weak transition. Several statements are difficult to follow because their relationship is not explained, particularly the comparison of washing machines and refrigerators. The conclusion introduces a general opinion rather than drawing together the chart trends. Use clearer topic sentences and connect comparisons with precise references such as “by contrast” or “while”.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the main subjects, using terms such as “electrical appliances,” “housework,” “percentage,” and “hours per week.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward: “used in accessive way,” “people work fifty hours,” and “people life easy and beautiful.” There are also spelling and spacing problems, including “aweek,” which reduce the clarity and control of the writing. Aim for accurate trend language and avoid unsupported evaluative wording. For example, describe ownership as “rose” or “reached 100%,” and say that the time spent on housework “fell” rather than that people “work” a certain number of hours.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, for example, “But it was decreased at 35 in 1940.” However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction, tense, articles, and prepositions occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to interpret. Examples include “the percentage of household refrigerator was 0,” “It was started at 1920 to 2019,” and “At last it was about 10 hours people work.” The past passive in “was decreased” is also not the appropriate construction for describing a chart trend. Practise forming clear past-tense comparisons, such as “Housework fell from 50 hours in 1920 to 35 in 1940,” and check sentence boundaries and punctuation.
