Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad trends: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework time fell. However, the response only partially reports the chart’s key information and is under the required length: it contains 115 words, 35 short of the 150-word minimum, with 21 prompt words excluded from the count. Some figures and comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: refrigerators rose from about 2%, not 0%, and washing-machine ownership did not simply fluctuate; it increased overall, with a modest dip from 70% in 1960 to 65% in 1980. The housework trend is mentioned but not quantified beyond its early decline. Include a clear overview and support it with accurate start/end figures and the main stages of change.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a basic, sensible sequence: an introduction, a general statement of trends, then details about appliances and housework. This gives the reader an overall route through the information. However, the development is brief, and the final two paragraphs do not provide enough detail to make the comparisons easy to follow. Linking is also limited, with repeated use of “while” and “and,” and the relationship between the appliance figures is sometimes unclear. For example, “addition of 20 owner after every 20 years” is difficult to connect to the specific years and values. Use separate, clearly focused paragraphs for the overview and data details, and connect comparisons with precise references to years and percentages.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “trend,” “ownership,” “increase,” “decrease,” and “per week,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, word-form, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Phrases such as “electrical appliances owners,” “20 owner,” and “washing machine buyers” are not natural ways to describe household ownership. There are also misspellings such as “vac uume” (written as “vac uume” in the response without the space: “vac uume” is intended as “vac uume”?) and “falctuation.” Aim for accurate collocations such as “the proportion of households owning refrigerators” and “hours spent on housework,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a comparison beginning “while” and a clause describing the washing-machine trend. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Examples include “It can be observe” instead of “It can be observed,” “there is considerbaly increase” instead of “there was a considerable increase,” and “it decrease with constant and less numbers.” Subject–verb agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction need more reliable control. Practise writing clear past-tense descriptions of chart changes, and check that each sentence has a complete, correctly formed clause before adding comparisons.
