Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the broad contrast between rising appliance ownership and declining housework time, and you report several relevant appliance figures, including refrigerators at about 2% in 1920 and 100% by 1980. However, the response is incomplete: it ends while describing vacuum-cleaner ownership at 90%, omitting the 2000 and 2019 figures and giving no account of the housework-hours series. The opening also misstates the subject as “ownership of time spent doing housework,” and the overview does not clearly summarise the major pattern across both charts. To improve, introduce both measures accurately, give a concise overview, and select key figures for all four series, including the fall in housework from 50 to about 11 hours.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response with an introduction, a brief overview, and a longer paragraph of figures. Phrases such as “in contrast” and “on the other hand” show an effort to connect comparisons. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the main body becomes one very long sentence, shifts repeatedly between appliances, and stops mid-description. Some linking phrases are repeated or do not clearly signal the relationship between ideas. Separate the overview from the detailed comparisons, group the appliance trends together, and use a separate paragraph for housework hours. Shorter sentences and clearer sequencing would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “ownership,” “decline,” “increase,” and “maximum,” so the reader can recognise the intended trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “the uses of” for household ownership and “rise rapidly the steady.” Spelling errors including “refrigerstor” and “vaccum” also reduce precision. Aim for accurate trend language and collocations rather than repeating “uses” and “rise.” For example, describe a proportion as “the share of households owning a refrigerator,” and use verbs such as “rose,” “levelled off,” and “reached saturation” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to combine comparisons and time references, but sentence structures are mostly long and frequently inaccurate, which sometimes makes relationships between figures unclear. Examples include “the uses of washing machine is steadily rose” and “in 1960 it user are about 90%”; these show problems with verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. The extended sentence beginning “in contrast, in 1920…” also needs clearer punctuation and should be divided into manageable clauses. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then build longer sentences only when the clauses are controlled. A wider mix of accurate simple and complex sentences would improve clarity.
