Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and give a relevant overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework time fell. Several key figures are reported accurately, including washing machines at 40% in 1920 and about 75% in 2019, and the decline in housework from 50 to around 11 hours. However, some important details are misread: refrigerators were at about 2% in 1920, not 30%, and washing-machine ownership was about 70%, not 90%, in 1960. The overview also says washing machines fluctuated, but their overall pattern is a gradual rise with a modest dip around 1980. Include the intermediate housework figures for 1980 and 2000 to make the account more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework. This makes the two charts easy to distinguish. However, progression within the appliance paragraph is sometimes disrupted by repeated and awkward transitions such as “While reaching at 1940,” “In 1960,” and “And at the end.” Several sentence fragments beginning with “While” also weaken the links between ideas. The overview is useful, but the body could group the appliance trends more logically—for example, describe the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner together, then contrast the washing-machine pattern. Use fewer repeated connectors and make comparisons explicit to improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “fluctuated,” and “gradually decline,” so the reader can generally understand the trends being described. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “household hours,” “reached at,” and “never started yet” are not natural ways to describe the data. There are also misspellings such as “Wahing,” “calenear,” and “vaccum,” which make the writing look less controlled. Aim for accurate trend language and standard spellings; for example, say that ownership “stood at” a figure or “rose to” a level, and describe housework time in “hours,” not as a percentage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message is usually understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “the percentage of household” needs a plural noun, while “vacuum cleaner were” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The sentence “Whereas, Washing machine fluctuated throughout” is not a complete, correctly punctuated clause, and “number of hours per week decline” uses the wrong verb form. Several sentences also begin with “While” or “And” without being properly connected to a main clause. Practise building complete sentences with accurate past-tense verbs and use commas and full stops to separate ideas clearly.
