Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this rapidly evolving world, whether movie should be watch on phones or cinema has become a subject of considerable debate. I acknowledge the benefits of watching movies on mobile phones, I firmly believe that cinemas provide environment to enjoy it, as it offers benefits to individuals, actors and society as whole.

First and foremost, one of the most compelling arguments in favour of cinema is that it plays a pivotal role in building environment to enjoy movies. This is primarily because theaters offer good sitting and music system which makes each and every moment enjoyoable, allowing people to watch it with their friend or family members. As a result, individuals experience greater life satisfaction and enjoy better overall quality of life with their near and dear once. For instance, people watching an animated films in cinema can enjoy its visual effects with big screen, making the experience more exciting than watcing it on a small mobile screen.

On the other hand, people who is in favour of watcing movies on phones says that it is more affordable and convenient for them. This is undoubtedly true because they can watch it anywhere like while commuting from work to home or sitting on garden. Consequently, they can save their time and money and watch movies within their pace. For example, people who have keen interest in watching movies, so they prefer to enjoy it on their phones instead of wasting money behind each and every movies released in theaters.

In conclusion, although watching movies on phones can save their time and money, I firmly believe that cinema offers opportunities to enjoy it with loved once and with big screen. For that reasons I believe that watching films in cinema offers interesting surrounding than watching it on phones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and make your own position clear: you acknowledge the convenience of phones but favour cinemas for the shared, large-screen experience. The examples about commuting and animated films are relevant, and the conclusion restates your preference. However, the cinema argument is developed more fully than the phone-viewing argument, which is mainly described as cheaper and more convenient. The claim that cinemas benefit “individuals, actors and society” is introduced but not explained, so it does not contribute much support. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits of phone viewing in more depth and develop the social or artistic value of cinemas with a specific reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “First and foremost,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectations securely, and the paragraphing is appropriate. Some connections are less smooth, however. For example, “I acknowledge the benefits…, I firmly believe…” joins two complete ideas with only a comma, while “For example, people who have keen interest…, so they prefer…” creates an awkward link. References such as “it” and “their” are also occasionally unclear. Use more precise referencing and connect examples to the point they illustrate without relying on formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “considerable debate,” “pivotal role,” “affordable,” “convenient,” and “visual effects.” These choices help communicate the topic and show attempts to use less common language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “building environment,” “good sitting,” “enjoyoable,” and “wasting money behind” movies. Spelling errors, including “watcing,” “once” for “ones,” and “enjoyoable,” also reduce control. Aim for natural combinations rather than translating phrases directly, and proofread carefully. More precise wording would make your ideas clearer and help you express the contrast between the immersive cinema experience and the flexibility of personal devices.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “although.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and plurals remain. For example, “whether movie should be watch” needs a plural noun and a passive form, while “people who is in favour” has subject–verb disagreement. In “I acknowledge…, I firmly believe…,” two independent clauses are joined with a comma, and “an animated films” has an article–plural mismatch. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and complete clause boundaries. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your varied structures more effective.
