Student answer (Band 6.0)

While some people argue that watching the movies on our phones or tablets is good, others say that going to the cinema is a whole different experience they live and it is so enjoyable. I agree with the notion that the cinema has its own magic. In this essay we will discuss both views of this debate.

On the one hand, many people prefer to watch movies in their devices in the terms of relaxtion. Gathering with friends or family or even setting to watch movies alone in home helps people to unwind after a hectic working day. To illustrate, ordering a dinner or a snack and rest on the sofa or bed to enjoy a movie is a great way for people to relax and see the new movies especially with the spread of streaming applications such as Netflix and Disney which display latest shows consistently.

On the other hand, Going to cinema and watcing the latest movies that are launched in a giant screen is consider an enjoyable experience. Many contemperory cinemas have a 3D, 4D, and 5D technology which promote the whole experience. To cite an example, many people spoke about when there is a movement scene their chairs move in an interactive way as they are part of the movie. Moreover, sometime they got sprinkled by water. these effects turned the whole experience to be really different more than just watching a movie.

In conclusion, althougth many people prefer to stay home and enjoy movies to relax, the magic of cinema is evolved to make it a memorable time for all fans to enjoy movies in a different level.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your own position clearly: you recognise the convenience of watching at home, while concluding that cinema offers a special experience. The examples about relaxing with family and enjoying 3D/4D effects are relevant and help explain each side. However, the home-viewing argument is developed more fully through streaming and relaxation, whereas the cinema argument relies mainly on special effects; explain more broadly why the shared atmosphere, screen or sound makes films more enjoyable. The conclusion repeats your preference but could make the comparison more decisive. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation of how it supports the view, rather than relying on general claims such as cinema’s “magic.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed with the relevant arguments. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger control associated with a higher level. However, some links between ideas are mechanical, and a few references are unclear. For example, “these effects” begins a new sentence without a capital letter, while “they got sprinkled” leaves the reader to infer who “they” refers to. Use more precise referencing and connect examples explicitly to the point they illustrate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss both settings, including “unwind,” “hectic working day,” “streaming applications,” and “interactive.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond basic words, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “relaxtion,” “watcing,” “contemperory,” and “evolved” in the conclusion. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “in the terms of relaxation,” “launched in a giant screen,” and “enjoy movies in a different level.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language for the cinema’s atmosphere and technical features would also help you express your ideas with greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “applications such as Netflix and Disney which display latest shows consistently” and a conditional-style example beginning “when there is a movement scene.” The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “rest on the sofa or bed” does not match the subject “ordering a dinner or a snack,” and “is consider an enjoyable experience” has an incorrect verb form. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “Going to cinema” lacks an article, and “these effects” should begin with a capital letter after a full stop. Review agreement, verb forms, articles and punctuation, while continuing to practise varied sentence structures.
