Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a fully developed position. The essay also falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the arguments provided. While the main points regarding convenience versus the cinematic experience are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a clear, extended example or explanation, and always complete your concluding summary to ensure your position is clearly stated and maintained throughout the entire response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay uses some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'On the other hand', which helps the flow. However, the paragraphing is inconsistent, and the abrupt ending disrupts the logical progression of the essay. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the rest says', which makes it difficult to follow the writer's intent. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there is a lack of precision and some repetitive usage. Phrases like 'iota of doubt' and 'smart gadgets' are used, but there are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'support fil industry' and 'Ott platforms'. The range is somewhat limited, and the spelling errors (e.g., 'rae', 'i') detract from the overall quality. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to media and entertainment, and pay closer attention to accurate spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, 'cinema are unnecessary' should be 'cinemas are unnecessary', and 'i will discuss' should be capitalized. These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the flow of reading. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly before nouns.
