Student answer (Band 7.0)
Many individuals believe that now we can enjoy movies on our digital gadgets like phones and tablets, and no need to go to the cinema. Others say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a theatre. I will discuss both views before giving my opinion.
On the one hand, due to the advancement of technology, people prefer to enjoy movies on their mobile phones and tablets because it is more convenient and flexible. Today, people have limited leisure time to enjoy the cinema; instead, they prefer to tablets and phones. It allows them to watch movies as per their convenience. For example, many individuals enjoy movies during their lunch and dinner time because of a lack of time. Additionally, the cost of cinema tickets is very expensive. Therefore, it would be difficult for everyone to afford them. At the cost of one movie ticket, people can get a subscription to an online platform for a month. As a result, people prefer to watch cinema in mobile phones, which is convenient and pocket-friendly.
On the other hand, others argue that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a cinema. Watching movies in a theatre gives a different experience and allows them to enjoy with their family and friends. For instance, theatres have different facilities, such as a big screen, sound system and enjoyable snacks as well, which allow people to enjoy the movie at their peak. Moreover, several animated movies are available in 3D that type of movies are only enjoyable in theatres.
In my opinion, I believe that watching movies is not a primary priority for individuals, so if it is not compulsory to watch movies in the cinema over the cost of primary needs. But it is okay to enjoy some blockbuster movies in the theatre to get a new experience.
To conclude, although theatres give a different experience of watching movies, I believe the choice of watching movies is based on individuals' affordability and convenience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the convenience of mobile viewing and the immersive experience of the cinema. You clearly state your opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the cost of tickets is a strong point, but the discussion on 3D movies is brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opinion is more consistently integrated throughout the body paragraphs rather than just in the conclusion. The final paragraph is a bit repetitive, and the opinion could have been more explicitly linked to the arguments presented earlier.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Additionally' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'that type of movies are only enjoyable in theatres,' where the connection to the previous sentence could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advancement of technology,' 'subscription,' and 'pocket-friendly.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'watch cinema in mobile phones' (should be 'watch movies on mobile phones') and 'at their peak' (which is not the most natural collocation here). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and avoid repeating the same words, such as 'enjoy' and 'movies,' too frequently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'and no need to go' (missing subject/verb), 'prefer to tablets' (should be 'prefer tablets'), and 'that type of movies are' (should be 'those types of movies are'). Punctuation is generally correct, but there are some minor errors in sentence construction. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band for grammatical accuracy.
