Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this era people have different kind of mode of entertainment. Some individuals believe electronic gadgets can be used to watch movies but others think movies should be watch in theaters. Here, I will discuss both views including my opinion.

Some people think, it is great idea to see pictures on their mobile phones and tablets as it saves the time and money because they do not have to go outside. Moreover, they can enjoy the movie at any time.

On the other hand, other people think the movie should be see in the cinema, as they can spend quality time with their family. They says, they can watch HD movies on big screens and they can enjoy more as compared to electronic gadgets. In addition, they believe watching films on phones leads to it put negative effect on their habits as become them lazy.

In my opinion, movies can be more enjoy in cinema as many movies such as 3D and 4D can only be enjoy in theater. Furthermore, watching small screen for long time can lead to weak eye sight. Apart from that, I also think if everyone will watch movies on their phones it will be diminish the cinemas which will create unemployment in many workers.

To conclude, in my point of view watching films on the personal phones is not bad but, people should watch more movies in cinema, as it also increase GDP of our country because cinema owners pay big tax to the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact on cinemas is a good point but is not fully explored. The ideas are relevant, but some points, such as the mention of '3D and 4D' movies, could have been expanded upon to provide more depth. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the writer's stance. To improve, focus on providing more detailed explanations and specific examples to support each main point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences are slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'electronic gadgets', 'HD movies', and 'GDP'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some word-choice errors, such as 'diminish the cinemas' instead of 'lead to the decline of cinemas' and 'watching small screen' instead of 'watching on a small screen'. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider variety of vocabulary to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'movies should be watch' (should be watched), 'They says' (They say), 'it put negative effect' (it has a negative effect), and 'become them lazy' (makes them lazy). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor issues with article usage and verb forms. To improve, the student needs to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, as these are recurring issues that affect the accuracy of the writing.
