Student answer (Band 7.0)
It has been argued by some individuals that they can watch films on their smartphones or tablets, and limits the visits to the theatres. While others believe that if they want to experience movies with better sound and quality, cinema can offer full enjoyment. This essay will discuss both the views along with my opinion at the conclusion.
To begin with, one of the main reasons behind this debated issue is the advancement of technology. These days, people have access to various digital devices to watch movies or shows. There are several benefits to this. Firstly, individuals do not have to worry about the long waits for getting the tickets to the cinema as sometimes they might to reach hours early to book the show. Watching movies on online platforms such as Netflix through these gadgets can provide convenience and flexibility since they can stream anywhere regardless of the location. For instance, professionals can enjoy these plays at anytime without choosing traditional methods to watch. Hence, it offers time-saving alternative.
On the other side, people prefer to watch movies in a cinema to experience good quality and enjoyable atmosphere. Theatres can reduce the distractions as they keep viewers in a dark room away from phones and household interruptions. In addition, it provides superior immersion, large-scale visual grandeur, and optimized sound quality compared to smaller home screens. As a result, it delivers deep audio impact that cheap speakers or headphones miss.
In conclusion, although watching films on electronic devices allows people with greater convenience and flexibility however, visiting cinemas can offer upgraded quality with better sounds as well as experience

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear position, although the conclusion is somewhat abrupt and lacks a final summary of your own opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of digital devices versus the immersive experience of cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is slightly limited; for instance, the point about 'professionals' enjoying plays could be expanded to better illustrate the flexibility argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently reinforced throughout the essay, rather than just mentioned at the end.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'On the other side', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are some minor issues with flow; for example, the transition in the final sentence of the conclusion is slightly awkward due to the misuse of 'although' and 'however' in the same clause. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different viewpoints.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'immersion', 'visual grandeur', and 'optimized sound quality' effectively. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'limits the visits' (which should be 'reduces the need for visits') and 'enjoy these plays' (referring to films as 'plays' is slightly inaccurate). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations and avoiding slight word-choice errors would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips. For example, 'as sometimes they might to reach hours early' is grammatically incorrect, and the sentence structure in the conclusion is fragmented. There are also minor punctuation and preposition errors throughout. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex sentence connectors to ensure that your more sophisticated structures are error-free.
