Student answer (Band 7.0)

Some people think that movies should be watched at home on phones or tablets rather than going to the cinema, whereas others believe that films can be fully enjoyed at the cinema. Both views have their own merits. I believe that the cinema is expensive, so it is better to watch at home, but some films with special effects like 3D must be seen in a cinema. This essay will examine both perspectives before explaining why I support this position.

The primary reason is the rise in prices; because of that, everything is so expensive. Although the quality of the film at the cinema will be perfect, but not affordable to watch all the movies. Apart from this, nowadays it is easier to watch on some websites on the same day of release without any waiting. For example, the average expense at the cinema has increased due to ticket prices and also outside food is not allowed, which encourages people to buy popcorn and drinks from there. Therefore, it is cheaper to watch at home according to our convenience any without any restr.

Another main point to consider is that the atmosphere and some movies are in 3D prints. To enjoy this type of film, visiting the theatre is an appropriate choice. For example, a movie like Jungle Safari without wearing 3D glasses will not be the same on a phone. Consequently, I believe that spending on such movies is worth it.

In conclusion, movies at home on phones and tablets are cheaper and more comfortable, but not all films can be seen at you comfort place if you fully want to enjoy some effects. I believe that, depending on the movie, people should decide. Overall, this essay has demonstrated why this view is most appropriate.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that cinema is expensive, the explanation could be more detailed. Similarly, the point about 3D films is relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis of why the 'atmosphere' is superior. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth rather than just stating the fact.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from this,' 'Consequently,' and 'In conclusion,' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'any without any restr.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is precise will help your writing feel more natural and cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'merits,' 'perspectives,' and 'convenience.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as '3D prints' (which should be '3D films' or '3D technology') and 'at you comfort place.' Additionally, there is a minor error where the sentence ends abruptly with 'restr.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Expanding your range of synonyms will also help avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'Although the quality of the film at the cinema will be perfect, but not affordable' contains a redundant conjunction. There are also issues with sentence fragments and incomplete thoughts, such as 'any without any restr.' While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and avoiding redundant conjunctions to improve your accuracy.
