Student answer (Band 7.0)
Technology these days becoming very fast and reliable because of it too many tasks or work can be completed by phones. Cinemas were the first choice to watch movies but with the technology advancement people can enjoy same movies on their phones by siting at home.
On one hand, people can save time if they prefer to watch movies at home. There are too many OTT platforms where people can watch films and web series on the same day of their release on their phone. It is also a cheaper option rather than going in the actual cinema hall. Moreover, they get the option to play, pause or change the movie according to their desire. So, in this scenario watching movies or films at home is a better option rather watching it in cinema.
On the other hand, movie theatre or cinema halls are specifically made for just to watch movies. So, it provides more facilities such as big screen, good sound system, comfortable seating and so on. Furthermore, some movies are made to watch in 3D version which people can not enjoy it their homes. Moreover, there are high chance that cinema halls are located near to the shopping center or any other entertainment facility, people can also get these opportunity if they are watching movies at cinema hall.
To conclude, with the technology advancement, people can watch movies on the same day of its release on the phones or tablets but to fully enjoy the movie in big screen, better sound system and seating people could prefer cinema hall. In my opinion, both options are great but depends on the person's interest.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the convenience of home viewing and the immersive experience of the cinema. A clear position is established in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about cinema locations being near shopping centers is a bit tangential and could have been better linked to the overall experience. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of why the cinema experience remains unique, rather than just listing features like 'big screen' or 'sound system'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are slightly abrupt, such as the jump from discussing 3D movies to the location of cinema halls. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'OTT platforms' and '3D version'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'technology these days becoming very fast' and 'get these opportunity'. To improve, you should focus on more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to avoid repetitive structures and simple word choices.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the cinema', 'the technology advancement'), verb forms ('siting' instead of 'sitting'), and subject-verb agreement ('there is no need', 'there are high chance'). Some sentences are slightly ungrammatical, such as 'people can not enjoy it their homes'. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence construction would significantly improve your score.
