Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is indeed true that technology make people's lives much easier. A several number of people argue that there is no need to visit a theatre to watch a movies because watching films on smart phones and tablets is more convenient . On the other hand, many people argue that watching a feature films in the movie theatre offers a more enjoyable experience . Before attending my opinion both the views will be discussed in following paragraphs.
Discussing the view that preferred watching films on smartphones or tablets the foremost reason I shall put forward is that it provide more flexibility. By this I mean that person can watch movie according to there time convenience, no need to seat for prolong hours and watch. There is no prior booking require for show. Secondly, easy portability as cell phones or tablets are lightweight and easy to carry and comfortable to watch anywhere. Additionally It is a time and money saving technique, for instance there is no need to travel for long hours to reach the theatre, thus it reduce travel expenses as well as eliminates the cost of cinema tickets.
On Other hand Other people liked to watch movies in cinema. The major one is that watching films together in movie theatre can increase family bonding.
Furthermore high quality sound system used in cinemas enhance the overall viewing experience and makes films more exciting. Moreover unlike at home there are fewer interruption from household chores or family members. In fact Cinemas offer better picture quality and comfortable seating environment.
All in all, it can be said that theatre provide all the facilities to the viewers such as comfortable seating environment and fewer distraction. However in my opinion watching a movies on tablets are more comfortable as a individual can watch films according to their convenience. It is also cheaper than buying cinema tickets.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the flexibility of mobile devices versus the immersive experience of cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'family bonding' is mentioned but not fully explored. The position is consistent throughout, though the conclusion could be more nuanced to better reflect the complexity of the debate. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task well, but would benefit from more detailed supporting examples to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'All in all', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, although there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the transition between the discussion of mobile devices and the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'flexibility', 'portability', and 'immersive'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'A several number of people' (a large number) and 'there is no need to seat for prolong hours' (sit for prolonged hours). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('technology make', 'it provide', 'it reduce') and article usage ('a movies', 'the theatre'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended message. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common slips.
