Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the convenience of mobile viewing and the immersive experience of the cinema. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of streaming platforms like Netflix and the social aspect of cinema-going. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more deeply developed; for instance, the point about 'cultural awareness' in the second paragraph is a bit vague and could be better linked to the cinema experience specifically.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'To commence with,' 'On the flip side,' and 'To recapitulate' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit choppy. Referencing is generally clear, but ensure that pronouns and linking phrases are used more naturally to improve the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting to use topic-specific terms like 'unparalleled experience,' 'cost-effective,' and 'streaming platforms.' However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'entertainmnet,' 'anxity,' 'unperelleled,' 'sceans,' 'Nextflix') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'to be fully fun'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do limit the score. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise word choices will help you reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'movies needs to be watch,' 'theater provide') and article usage. Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or run-on. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the essay. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentence structures are punctuated correctly.
