Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this digitalised era, watching movies becomes a habit among individuals they always eager to spend their spare time towards this activity. Some people believe at present screening films at smartphones and iPads is relatively easy there is less obvious to go in theatre however, others opine that watching movies in cinema could be imperative to enjoy properly. I will discuss both statements in the subsequent paragraphs.

On the one hand, those who prefer to scream films on their electronic gadgets could able to save their time and money and make it more convenient. To expound, they can easily watch their interesting films while sitting at home which can lead them to balancing time with their hectic schedule and preserves their capital which they required to buy tickets and transportation cost if they go in cinemas.

In addition, persons can fully enjoy their privacy and plenty of options to skip unwanted scenes that could not be possible in the theatres.

On the other hand, those considered larger screen more entertaining can get a chance to see latest films and enjoy the benefits of broader screens. It can be seen that individuals could able to experience the feeling to watching premium shows of the recently released movie that would give them extra happiness. For example, normally in first shows most of the time real actors sitting with them in that cinema so they can get a option to meet their ideal personality in real. Additionally, watching films on larger screens not only entertain with biggest pictures and loudest sound but also the quality gives immense satisfaction.

In conclusion, although both options relevant for people to entertain themselves but at present cinema would be more appropriate choice for audience to enjoy well. So it would be more suitable to spend time out of the home stress

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For example, the argument regarding actors sitting in the cinema is factually questionable and detracts from the overall persuasiveness of the point. While the main ideas are relevant, some points, such as the 'privacy' argument, could be expanded with more specific detail to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the supporting evidence occasionally lacks logical depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the progression of ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'there is less obvious to go in theatre'. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel a bit disjointed in places. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated linking between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'digitalised era', 'imperative', and 'premium shows'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'scream films' (likely meant 'stream') and 'make it more convenient' (used incorrectly in context). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the range is limited to basic functional language, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'watching movies becomes a habit among individuals they always eager' (run-on sentence/missing verb), 'could able to' (incorrect modal usage), and 'those considered larger screen' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting and indicate a lack of control over complex grammatical forms.
