Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, but the development is limited. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which restricts the depth of the arguments. While you mention the convenience of mobile devices and the social benefits of cinemas, these points are not fully extended or supported with specific examples. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments. To improve, you should aim to expand on your ideas by providing more detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring you meet the word count requirement to allow for a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'begining with the former views' and 'explaining with the later views' are somewhat unnatural. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the transition between ideas is often abrupt. To achieve a higher score, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast') to create a smoother flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple phrases like 'good option' and 'enjoy the movies'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'watcg' instead of 'watch' and 'thier' instead of 'their'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise and varied vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'portability', 'social interaction', or 'technological advancement'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more sophistication and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles (e.g., 'cinema is good option'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'way to watching'), and punctuation issues. The lack of complex sentence structures limits your ability to demonstrate grammatical range. To improve, practice using a mix of simple, compound, and complex sentences. Pay close attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for basic errors in tense and word order will also significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
