Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, with the invention of smartphones, it is possible to watch movies at home with just one click. However, the importance of cinema remains forever. I will discuss both these views and give my opinion at the end.
One the one hand, it is quite clear that watching films at home have more benefits. Firstly, we do not have to go to cinema, book a ticket in advance and wait for hours outside the cinema in rush hours. Moreover, it gives us a quality time to spend with family and enjoying together at home. There is a freedom to pause in-between if have any emergency which is not possible in cinema. Again, we have more freedom of choice for movies and one can decide which show is worth to watch because of more functions on devices.
On the other hand, cinema is also crucial for watching shows because there is no comparison of watching with suspense and thrillar with lights off and sound effect. Moreover, watching movies on tables requires subscriptions which can be expensive than cinema ticket. Furthermore, we can meet other people there and it makes social interactions stronger which are gradually decreasing due to internet.
In my opinion, watching movies at home have more advantages in terms of freedom, quality time with family and more accessibility of functions in comparison with theatres. I know there are some disadvantages of such devices such as sticking to screen but it can be improved by spending time with friends and family.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'social interactions' in the cinema is a good point, but it is not fully explored. Similarly, the mention of 'subscriptions' being more expensive than cinema tickets is a strong point that could have been supported with a brief example. The essay covers all parts of the prompt, but the supporting arguments remain at a surface level, preventing a higher score. To improve, ensure that each main point is followed by a specific example or a deeper explanation of the 'why' behind the claim.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' are used to signal transitions between ideas. However, some of the referencing is slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition in the final paragraph regarding the 'disadvantages of such devices' feels a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'accessibility' and 'social interactions'. However, there are also some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'watching with suspense and thrillar' (should be 'thriller') and 'more functions on devices'. The phrase 'quality time to spend with family and enjoying together' is also slightly awkward. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'watching films at home have' (should be 'has') and 'watching movies at home have' (should be 'has'). Additionally, there are minor errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'go to cinema' (should be 'go to the cinema') and 'expensive than' (should be 'more expensive than'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
