Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, there is a debate about whether go the cinema is important. Some people think that nowadays everyone can watch movies on their mobile phones or tablets, there is no need to go to the cinema, others argue that there is more enjoy during watching a movie in the theatre. This essay will discuss both sides before presenting my opinion.
On the one hand, many people believe that watching movies on mobiles is cheaper. Because of it, people can save the travelling and ticket prices, by watching movies on mobile phones. For example, there are plethora of applications such as Netflix, Amazon prime, and Mx player. They can enjoy movies while sitting at home or workplace. Consequently, watching movies on mobiles and tablets save people's travelling time, which they can utilize in other activities.
On the other hand, others argue that cinema offers great quality. People can unwind themselves after long busy day by visiting theatre, because the atmosphere in theatres is pleasant. Moreover, they can experience HD graphics and see their favorite celebrities from very close, which enhance their enjoy. For instance, cinemas have their own specialties such as 3D features. So people feel they are in films. Consequently, watching movies in a theatre is also very enjoyeble.
In conclusion, although watching movies in a theatre is having own merits, phones and tablets are much convenient. I firmly believe that watching movies on mobiles and tablets is more beneficial because these application not only save the travel expenses but also the mean time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'cinema experience' is supported by mentioning 3D features, but the explanation remains superficial. The conclusion is clear, but the reasoning provided for the preference for mobile devices—specifically the mention of 'mean time'—is slightly unclear and could have been better articulated. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more detailed examples or logical consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Because of it, people can save the travelling.' Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'plethora' and 'specialties.' However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'more enjoy during watching' instead of 'more enjoyment while watching' and 'enhance their enjoy' instead of 'enhance their enjoyment.' Additionally, 'mean time' is used incorrectly in the conclusion. A wider range of precise vocabulary and better attention to word forms would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'whether go the cinema' instead of 'whether going to the cinema' and 'is having own merits' instead of 'has its own merits.' Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly clunky. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of gerunds after prepositions or verbs.
