Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is an ongoing debate regarding whether there is need to travel to movie theaters to watching movies? There are devided opinions. A group of individuals have argue that currently we are able to watch movies through our personal gadgets such as phones or tablets that is why no requires to visit cinema; however, other are counter claim that if person wants to enjoy film more then cinema house is most appropriate. Before giving my opinion, both the view points would be discussed in the ensuing paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

Discussing the former view, supporters believe that apart from movie theaters there are several alteranatives available for watching movies. Due to modrenisation people can enjoy films from anywhere. For instance, one can watch film in mobile phone, tablets, and in laptop whenever they want in break at office, at home, in the garden etc. This is more affordable and convenienet than cinema houses. People can save not only money but also their perecious time. people can enjoy their fevourit movies without travel miles. people can get entertain in femeliar atmospheres in

their own bedroom. The idea of watching movie from gadget is great because it is more flexible, you can pose vidieo, you can postpone half of film and continue it next day .as this is better approach.

However, proponents have their own opinion, to begin with cinema halls build for watching movie. it provides all modren facilities and atmosphere to enjoy movie. It is well designed especially for movies telecasting. it gives vibrant vibes. It provides high quality sound system, huge screen, comfortable seating facilities which makes movie more enjoyable. People can feel the dialogues and movie seen; Moreover, there are no external disturbance and interferences wich is not possible when you prefer to watch movie at home or any other place.

To conclude, although there are several other options to watch movies like personal electronic items such as phone or laptop, movie theaters are fevorite among people because it provides better facilities, perfect atmosphere and gives connective vibes, I believe movie cinema is most appropriate place to enjoy movies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the arguments regarding convenience versus the immersive experience of a cinema. However, some arguments, such as the mention of 'vibrant vibes' or 'connective vibes', are slightly vague and could be more precisely articulated to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the structure is appropriate for a discursive task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'To begin with', and 'For instance', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. There are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by repetitive sentence structures (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'People can...'). Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two opposing views, which helps the reader follow the progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'modernisation', 'proponents', and 'interferences'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'devided', 'alteranatives', 'fevourit', 'fevorite') and some awkward collocations like 'movie seen' instead of 'movie scene'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise word choice and better attention to spelling to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('A group of individuals have argue', 'cinema halls build for watching movie') and article usage ('the cinema' vs 'cinema'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response, and the errors do not significantly impede the reader's understanding.
