Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this advanced era of technology, it's common for people to watch movies or series while sitting at home or doing some work, etc.; however, some individuals like to see films in cinemas because of their preference for enjoyment. In this essay I will discuss both the aspects and will give my opinion.
To begin with, enjoying movies or shows on phones is really convenient for people nowadays because they can save their time by multitasking. For example, there are so many platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar, YouTube and many more which provide people plenty of options to watch any kind of film or show, whatever they like. Not only this, but it is also very affordable for them because it introduces many affordable monthly or annual packages so individuals can enjoy their favourite films.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 135 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you introduce the topic and discuss the convenience of watching films on mobile devices, you fail to address the second viewpoint regarding the cinema experience, nor do you provide a clear personal opinion as requested by the prompt. The ideas presented are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and supporting examples required for a full discussion. To improve, ensure you allocate sufficient time to develop each perspective fully and include a concluding paragraph that synthesizes your arguments and clearly states your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the premature ending of the text. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'For example', and 'Not only this', which helps the flow, but the lack of a complete structure makes the overall coherence weak. Paragraphing is present, but because the essay is incomplete, the logical development of the argument is not fully realized. To improve, ensure you have a clear structure consisting of an introduction, two body paragraphs (one for each view), and a conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, with terms like 'advanced era of technology', 'multitasking', and 'affordable'. However, the range is quite limited and repetitive. There is little evidence of less common or idiomatic vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control. Phrases like 'doing some work, etc.' are informal and imprecise. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and topic-specific collocations, such as 'cinematic experience', 'immersive environment', or 'technological advancements', while avoiding informal abbreviations or vague fillers like 'etc.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'I will discuss both the aspects', where the article 'the' is unnecessary, and the phrasing 'it introduces many affordable monthly or annual packages' is slightly awkward. Punctuation is generally functional, though the use of 'etc.' at the end of a clause is stylistically poor for an essay. While the errors do not significantly impede communication, the limited length of the text restricts the opportunity to demonstrate a wider range of complex grammatical structures. Focus on varying your sentence length and ensuring subject-verb agreement.
