Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the era of modernisation, some individuals think that watching movies in phones and tablets is better than watching in cinemas, while others think that to do full enjoy we should go to cinema. I will discuss both my views in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, some folks think that it is good to watch movies at home because they are more comfortable at home because some people are introverted and they want to spend their mean time at their home and that is why they think it is easy to watch movies at home. Moreover, there can be another reason also that some individuals are not that much fiancially stable so that they can watch movies at the cinema because the tickets are much expensive at the cinemas so they prefer to watch it at their home. For example, as I am very introvert person so I always prefer to watch movies at home because I want to enjoy my leisure time alone.

Secondly, the people who think that to fully enjoy the movies we should go to cinema because those people want to explore different places and they want to live their life fully. Furthermore, many people like to spend their mean time with their friends and family members so they prefer it a type of outing by watching movies in the cinema.

To conclude, as I mentioned both the reasons in above paragraphs, so everyone has their own point of view how they want to live their life in their comfort zone and I always prefer that it depends on another person the way they are comfortable we cannot force anyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development is somewhat limited. While you mention reasons such as comfort, financial constraints, and social outings, these points are not fully extended with deep analysis. For instance, the argument regarding financial stability is a good point, but it could be expanded by discussing the overall value proposition of cinema versus home streaming. Your position is stated in the conclusion, but it lacks a clear, consistent stance throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed exploration of the ideas rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is sometimes repetitive, particularly in the conclusion where you summarize by saying 'as I mentioned both the reasons'. The use of referencing is occasionally mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between sentences feels more natural and less like a list of points. The overall progression of ideas is clear, but the connections between sentences could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple phrases like 'good to watch', 'much expensive', and 'mean time' (which is likely a misuse of 'leisure time'). There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'do full enjoy' instead of 'fully enjoy' or 'to be fully enjoyed'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. Avoid repeating basic words and try to incorporate topic-specific terminology related to media consumption and entertainment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'watching movies in phones' (should be 'on'), 'as I am very introvert person' (missing article 'an'), and 'it depends on another person the way they are comfortable' (awkward phrasing). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, article usage, and prepositions. Try to construct more complex sentences with accurate punctuation to demonstrate better control.
