Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate about whether people should use their multimedia devices to watch movies or they should enjoy it in a theatre. This essay will discuss both the viewpoints. In my opinion, people should watch films on their devices because it is a cost-effective and flexible choice.
To commence with, some people prefer to watch movies on their phones because it is cost-friendly. To elaborate, since to watch a movie on multimedia device they only need a subscription, which costs less than a movie ticket. Although they have to wait for a movie to release on OTT platforms, they are able to save a considerable amount of money. As a result, they prefer using their smart devices. To exemplify, in 2022, a survey was conducted in the Headquarters of Google. Employee were asked to choose between their personal device and cinema hall. 72% of them choose their own smartphones and laptops because it saved their valuable money. Additionally, people also choose their devices for flexibility. This means they can watch the movie in several intervals. This allows them to utilize their free time such as while travelling in public bus.
On the other hand, there are some who believe that movie should enjoyed in a theatre. They have their viewpoint and the dominat reason is that they are driven by quality. To expound, movie theatres have much better sound and video quality than out smart devices. Moreover, movie hall has a bigger screen which gives a perfect watching experience. Consequently, they prefer cinema theatres instead of smart devices.
To conclude, this essay has discussed the reasons such as cost benefits and a flexible environment for watching movies on personal phones and tablets whereas also highlighted the point that some people are driven by quality movie experience, hence they prefer watching movie in a theatre. I my opinion, people should watch movies o their personal device as I believe their money is better utilized and they are not bound to complete the movie at once.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as cost-effectiveness and flexibility for personal devices versus quality and experience for cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The example provided regarding the Google headquarters survey is a bit generic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations or more nuanced real-world examples. Your position is consistent throughout the essay, which is a strength.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'To elaborate', 'Additionally', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with flow between sentences in the second body paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a solid band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'multimedia devices', 'cost-effective', 'subscription', and 'OTT platforms'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'cost-friendly' (which is not standard; 'cost-effective' or 'affordable' is better) and 'dominat reason' (spelling error). You attempt to use less common vocabulary, but some phrasing feels slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring spelling accuracy, as these minor slips prevent the vocabulary from being considered 'wide' or 'sophisticated'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'since to watch a movie... they only need' (awkward phrasing), 'Employee were asked' (missing article/pluralization), and 'movie should enjoyed' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor slips like 'I my opinion' in the conclusion. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to keep the score at a band 6.0. Focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage.
