Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this contemporary era, cinema has become a integral part of entertainment. However, it is believed by some individuals that movies should be enjoyed on mobile phones or ipads. Whereas, others depict that cinema still has its own features. Both the sides will be elucidated in the ensuing paragraphs alongside suitable examples.

To commence, the former view has several pros. The first and foremost is the cheapest way to entertain the film. For example, people just need to recharge the internet. Another advantage is, they can enjoy at any remote location without driving themselves to theater. Consequently, they can avoid heavy traffic and ultimately saves their time. Additionally, someone likes being isolated to watch movie. Moreover, anyone can watch movie anytime as they have phones with them all the time. To illustrate that, during travelling they can watch movie as individuals live hectic lifestyle.

On the other hand, cinema has its own beauty. The big screens offer the better quality of sound system with popcorn in hand provides exclusive moment to enjoy. Apart from this, modern cinema has been upgraded with 3D and box seats which enables spectators to feel them they are being a part of movie character. For instance, in Dubai mall, Imax cinemas' seats move accordingly the car is drew from left-right and realisation of break too. On top of that, the perfect combination of sound and animation allures more crowd to cinemas nowadays. Furthermore, it also prevents one from bad eyesights in long time as big screens have higher quality pixels and are distanced from user eyesight.

After analysing both sides, I conclude that even though phones or tablets allow saves wherewithal. In my opinion, human beings should be fostered to opt cinema over small screens as it caters comfort, thrilling experience and joyful moment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the convenience of mobile viewing and the immersive experience of the cinema. A clear position is maintained throughout, particularly in the conclusion. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the point about 'bad eyesights' is a bit speculative and lacks scientific grounding. The essay covers the requirements well, but could benefit from more nuanced exploration of the 'fully enjoyed' aspect of the prompt to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is relevant and stays on topic throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, although the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, though some phrasing, such as 'the former view', is used correctly but could be integrated more naturally into the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'elucidated', 'wherewithal', and 'allures'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'cheapest way to entertain the film' (should be 'cheapest way to watch films') and 'saves wherewithal' (which is used incorrectly in this context). Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic structures to convey meaning. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and natural phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'cinema has become a integral part' (should be 'an integral'), 'someone likes being isolated to watch movie' (missing articles), and 'the car is drew' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is mostly functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. The control of grammar is sufficient to communicate ideas, but the frequency of errors prevents a higher score. More attention to articles and verb tenses is needed.
