Student answer (Band 6.5)
Mobile phones or tablets are widely used to watch movies in recent years. Thus, some people suggest that audience do not need to go to the cinema to see films, while others argue that films need to be seen in a cinema since it provides better audio and video quality. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my opinion.
On the one hand, mobile phones and tablets can be a good option to enjoy the films, particularly for those who cannot afford movies to be watched in theaters. As film producers spend millions of money in making of films, they are expecting to generate a big revenue. As a result, they sell movie tickets quite expensive which may be costly for some people. However, smart phones are affordable, and every one can easily buy without any financial difficulties. Moreover, there are plenty of websites which shows many movies free of cost. It seems reasonable to see films on tablets or phones instead of cinemas.
On the other hand, the quality of cinemas has significantly improved. They offer big screens with HD video quality, better sound system and luxury seats, which can make viewers experience a way better than mobile phones. Moreover, people can watch movies all together with families and friends, that would be memorable moments for them. Since working people are so busy and find it difficult to spend time with their family, movie theaters provide them opportunities to enjoy some time together.
In my opinion, movies should be watch in cinemas because it not only gives individuals better experience but also generates employments for many. There are many people who depends on a film's revenue such as producers, actors, other film making staff and cinemas' staff. So, it seems unfair for them if people stop visiting the cinemas.
In conclusion, there is not doubt that now people can see films on phones or tablets, which is comparatively a way cheaper. However, I feel people should watch movies in cinema because it offers better experience and generate several jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cost-effectiveness of mobile viewing versus the immersive experience of cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the argument regarding employment is introduced in the conclusion as a new point, which is not ideal for a well-structured essay. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that all main arguments are fully developed within the body paragraphs rather than introducing new supporting points in the final paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, but the connection between the economic argument in the conclusion and the rest of the essay could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'generate revenue' and 'immersive experience' (implied), but the range is somewhat limited. Some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'making of films' instead of 'film production' and 'generate employments' instead of 'create jobs'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of collocations and using more precise terminology would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'audience do not need' (should be 'audiences' or 'the audience'), 'movies to be watched' (passive voice misuse), and 'there is not doubt' (should be 'no doubt'). Additionally, there are subject-verb agreement issues like 'websites which shows' and 'people who depends'. These errors occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining the use of passive versus active voice will help improve accuracy.
