Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is debatable that in the era of technology, majority of population prefer to watch movies on their phones or tablets but somehow some folks think it is more enjoyable to watch movies in cinemas to enjoy big screens. In my opinion, it depends on person's choice and their comfort zone in which they are more comfortable. Both of these views will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, some people prefer to watch films on their tablets and phones because they think it is more convenient rather than going to cinemas as they feel more comfort. Another reason is sometimes some individuals are facing financial issues and for saving money they prefer to watch it online. For example, earlier we were not financially stable and me and my sibling always prefer to watch movies when it comes on you tube or sometimes we get it from our friends.
Secondly, the individuals who think that movies need to be seen in cinema because they want to enjoy the scenes in the movie and want to feel the real-experience. Furthermore, some individuals prefer to spend some quality time with their friends or loved ones so they always prefer movie nights because they want to indulge into new generation and they think it is also a part of their life. For example, one of my friend is so obsessed with movie nights and she always go to cinema whenever she wants to spend her quality time.
To conclude, as mentioned in the above paragraphs it depends on the people's choice whether they want to enjoy their life or they want to choose their comfort because life is not same for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention convenience and financial issues for watching at home, and social aspects for the cinema, the arguments lack depth and specific analysis. The conclusion is quite vague and does not effectively summarise the main points or reinforce your position. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation of why these factors are significant, rather than just listing them. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence could be more robust to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., 'some individuals' is used frequently). The transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal structure of the paragraphs would benefit from more varied linking words to connect the supporting examples to the main arguments more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial issues', 'convenient', and 'real-experience'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'indulge into new generation' and 'me and my sibling always prefer', which sound unnatural. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'technological advancements', or 'cost-effective', and focus on more precise collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('majority of population prefer', 'one of my friend is'), incorrect verb tenses ('earlier we were not financially stable and me and my sibling always prefer'), and awkward phrasing ('life is not same for everyone'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent tense usage throughout your writing. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help elevate your score.
