Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern era it is very easy to watch movies on the phone while sitting at home, many human beings claim that they prefer staying at home to watch movie instead of going to cinema but on the other hand people think we should watch films in cinema hall to enjoy it to its fullest. I am going to throw light on both view points and will give my own opinion in the end.

Firstly, gadgets like phones and laptops made our lives considerably easier as we have all the facilities on our fingertips and nobody has to worry about going out either for entertainment or to connect with the world. it not only saves our timer but energy too which leads us to ahem more productivity in the personal as well as professional life.

On the other side, electronic items are being contentious issue in this world because people only rely on internet for everything and they are missing a lot of things because of it. Moreover, humans barely go out with family or friends for anything. Watching a movie is a relaxing activity which people usually do to have a break from their regular life to reduce stress so it should be seen in a theatre. Furthermore, enjoying movie at home is becoming a big reason for our talented artists to fail in the career because more we go to see movie in cinema more the income they will get. It is important to support our valuable stars to grow.

To conclude with, I believe that films should be watch in theatres so that we can have a rest from our busy schedule as well as we can support our film stars in their career so valuable talent does not disappear.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the economic impact on artists is a strong point, but the initial discussion on 'gadgets' is a bit generic and lacks specific examples of why cinema offers a superior experience beyond just 'relaxing'. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the sensory or social aspects of the cinema experience, such as the screen size, sound quality, or the communal atmosphere, to contrast more effectively with the convenience of home viewing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'On the other side', and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, the transition between the benefits of technology and the drawbacks is slightly abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the sentences within each paragraph flow more naturally into one another rather than feeling like a list of separate points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'contentious issue' and 'productivity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'throw light on both view points' (a bit informal) and 'ahem more productivity' (likely a typo). The phrasing 'human beings claim' is slightly unnatural in this context. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific terms related to film and media would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'films should be watch' (should be 'watched'), 'more we go to see movie' (missing articles), and 'it not only saves our timer' (should be 'time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for basic errors like verb forms and pluralization will significantly improve your accuracy.
