Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 163 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views and state an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack supporting examples. For instance, the point about 'reducing stress' is mentioned but not explained, and the discussion on personal gadgets is brief. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples, logical explanations, and a more thorough exploration of the topic to meet the length requirement and provide a fully developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'secondly' and 'on the other hand', but they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'The best thing about to watch'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by the lack of depth in the arguments. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'peoples view point' (people's viewpoint), 'personal gadgets' (used repeatedly), and 'limited amount of time of a particular' (which is grammatically incomplete). You need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise terms related to the topic of cinema and technology. Focusing on collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'some peoples view point', 'others believes', 'people not take out their personal time', and 'about to watch'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and sentence construction. Practicing the use of complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, will also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
