Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people prefer watching movies on their modern devices such as mobiles or tablets because it is convenient and saves time for travelling, while others believe that films are best enjoyed in a theatre due to a large screen and better sound quality. In my opinion, although both options have their advantages, watching film in cinema provides a far richer and more engaging experience.
One main reason people enjoy films in cinema is the highly immersive viewing experience. They can watch in a larger screen and enjoy high-quality surround sound. The combination helps viewers to focus fully on the movie without distraction, unlike compared to watching it on a small screen at home. As a result, people are able to connect more deeply with the story and emotions. For instance, watching a film such as Odyssey feels far more exciting, and people can see every details clearly, which is often lost on mobile phones or tablets.
Another reason some people prefer watching films at home is that it allows them to spend quality time with their families. When everyone sits together, they can laugh, share reactions, and discuss the story while watching, which creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere. As a result, this shared experience strengthens family bond and helps build meaningful memories. For example, watching a movie at home enables all family members to enjoy the film together while having their favourite food, making the moment more enjoyable and personal.
In conclusion, watching movies in a cinema offers a allows highly immersive atmosphere, while viewing films at home helps creates a long-lasting memories through shared family experiencesIn my opinion, cinemas provide a more engaging and enjoyable experience overall because of their advanced visual and audio features.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the convenience of home viewing and the immersive nature of the cinema. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of family bonding at home and technical superiority in cinemas. However, the development could be slightly more nuanced; for instance, the example of 'Odyssey' is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more specific detail or logical extension to avoid minor over-generalisation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the transition between the two viewpoints is smooth. Cohesive devices such as 'One main reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are occasional mechanical errors in cohesion, such as the run-on sentence in the conclusion ('offers a allows highly immersive') and the missing space after the period in the third paragraph ('atmosphere. As a result'). These minor slips prevent the flow from being entirely seamless, but the overall structure remains clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate and sufficient for the task. You have used some good collocations like 'immersive viewing experience', 'surround sound', and 'shared experience'. There are some minor errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'watching film in cinema' (should be 'watching films in a cinema') and 'helps creates a long-lasting memories' (should be 'helps create long-lasting memories'). While you attempt to use a range of vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. Expanding your use of more sophisticated, topic-specific vocabulary would help elevate the score further.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There is good control over most grammatical forms, but there are recurring errors that slightly impede the flow. For example, 'watching in a larger screen' should be 'watching on a larger screen', and 'unlike compared to' is redundant. Additionally, there are some minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'every details' instead of 'every detail'. While these errors do not cause significant confusion, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will improve your accuracy.
