Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, spending time on some recreational activities would be the great way to have good enjoyment in life. In this followed topic, some of us are saying that people can watch movies on their phones or tablets so there is no need to visit cinema halls, while others exress their contradictory view is that visiting cinema would be the best way to enjoy new films. I will disscuss both the topics and explain my personal perspective in the upcoming paragraph.

On the one hand, due to raise of this technology people arec getting more comfortable to access everything while setting at home. They can so many ott platforms like Netflix, Prime video, Youtube, etc. which charge a small amouth of subscription fee for 6 months period or 1 year plane and provide lots of options like different Tv shows, movies and series. While in the theater people have to pay nearly $30 to $35 for one ticket of any show or film, therefore this would be costly for folks of spending this much amout only for one time enjoyment.

On the other hand, today's cinema halls are becoming very fashionable due to this current technologies. There are many options like 3D, D-BOX, DOBLY sound effects would make unforgotable experience. For example, the Marvel studio has just released its most awaited movie 'Spiderman- A brand new day' which is getting good responses from those who has watched it in DBOX and 3D screen.

In my belief, thoses who are spending a strick amount on recreational activities would have the best option to watch movies and series on the ott platforms on the minimal spend. I think that people should visit theator for watching different films in order to get the experience of movie's VFX and fighting scene.

In conclusion, I would recommond everyone to go cinema and watch movies because of its gerater experience, although it depends on their personal perspective to visit the theator or watching movies on mobile phones for their extra comfort.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed both sides of the argument and provided a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the cost of cinema tickets, you do not fully explore the social or cultural aspects of the cinema experience. Similarly, your argument for home viewing focuses heavily on subscription costs rather than the convenience or accessibility for different demographics. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by more detailed reasoning or specific examples that go beyond simple statements. Your position is clear, but the depth of analysis needs to be more consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the link between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'due to this current technologies,' where the reference to the previous sentence is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'recreational activities,' 'subscription fee,' and 'contemporary era.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'exress,' 'disscuss,' 'amouth,' 'theator,' and 'recommond.' These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To improve, you should focus on using less common lexical items more accurately and proofreading for spelling. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the cinema,' 'the theater'), subject-verb agreement ('those who has watched'), and preposition usage ('setting at home' instead of 'sitting at home'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. To progress, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips, such as pluralization and verb tense consistency.
