Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the discussion. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed; for example, the mention of 'Times of India' is a good attempt at support, but the explanation of why 3D movies are more popular is brief. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure each body paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by more detailed elaboration and examples to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In other words', 'Moreover', and 'On the other side of the spectrum'. However, some transitions are awkward or misused, such as 'To pertinent' and 'To the nutshell', which are not standard English phrases. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the lack of sufficient length makes the overall flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'exorbident price' (exorbitant) and 'concurrent world' (contemporary). The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'holistic experience' and 'accessibility', but the overall range is limited. Spelling errors like 'exorbident' and minor collocation issues hinder the fluency of the writing. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on correct spelling and word formation will significantly improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('3D movies gets hits', 'cinema experience gain popularity') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors in sentence construction that occasionally impede clarity. While the student attempts complex sentences, they are often marred by these persistent errors. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
