Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument and state a clear position, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence in the second body paragraph. This prevents a full discussion and a proper conclusion. To improve, you must ensure you develop your points more thoroughly with specific examples and complete your essay with a summary of your main arguments. Because the response is unfinished and under-length, it cannot be awarded a higher band for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay shows a basic logical structure with an introduction and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'While', 'In addition', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the progression is interrupted by the unfinished nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a conclusion makes the overall organization feel incomplete. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect sentences and paragraphs more fluidly, rather than relying on simple transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'elucidate', 'predominant', and 'streamlined'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'conveniency' (convenience) and 'emphasize to watch' (emphasize watching). Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error with the possessive 'cinema's' instead of the plural 'cinemas'. To improve, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensure you are using words in their correct grammatical forms. Expanding your range of topic-specific collocations related to film and technology would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'People could be able to see' (People are able to see), 'it provide reachability' (it provides reachability), and 'Directors make such movies for the people to watch it' (watch them). These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs. Aim for more error-free sentences by proofreading your work for basic grammatical slips.
