Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals say that nowadays they can watch movies or series at home through using online application on their phones or tablets instead of going to cinemas. On the other hand, some individuals argue that to enjoy fully and experience it properly, film should be watched in theatre. I agree with the latter view because watching a film in a cinema provides a better viewing experience and atmosphere.
Nowadays, most movies are released on online platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ within a few months of their cinema release. People who cannot afford to watch movies in cinemas frequently can watch them at home on their phones or laptops at a relatively low subscription cost. However, this can have some disadvantages, as important parts of the story, famous scenes or the suspense may already be revealed on Instagram or YouTube. For example, people who watch movies in cinemas may reveal famous scenes or important plot details on social media to attract followers or increase views on their channels. As a result, people who watch these movies at home may already know important parts of the story and therefore cannot enjoy the film fully.
On the other hand, some people prefer go to cinema to enjoy fully and gets the best experience in big screen and also for amazing audio quality. Nowadays mostly movies are shoots by using VFX or Imax so that audience could feel the real experience. For example: Recent Spiderman movie shots in IMAX camera, so even if people watch in normal screen in theatre they can feel the real experience and also have option to watch in 3D for more close effects. This movie if people can watch at home they don't feel this experience as theatre.
I conclude by saying, if people want to feel real experience in big screen, powerful audio, and without reveal they should go in theatre. Those person who do not afford to pay they should watch the movie at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing arguments for both perspectives and a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of social media spoilers and the technical benefits of IMAX/VFX. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the explanation of why home viewing is inferior could be more nuanced, and the conclusion is quite brief. While the position is consistent, the supporting examples, particularly the reference to the 'Spiderman' movie, are slightly repetitive and could be more effectively integrated to strengthen the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The use of cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'For example', and 'As a result' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and some mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is functional but could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors, which occasionally impacts the overall flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, covering the topic of cinema and home entertainment effectively. There are attempts to use topic-specific terminology like 'VFX', 'IMAX', and 'subscription cost'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'mostly movies are shoots' instead of 'most movies are shot' and 'more close effects' instead of 'closer effects'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of more sophisticated or varied vocabulary limits the score to the 6.0 band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('film should be watched', 'people prefer go to cinema'), article usage, and verb forms ('movies are shoots'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are clunky. The errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely impede communication. To reach a higher band, the student needs to improve control over basic sentence construction and verb tense consistency.
