Student answer (Band 5.0)

While some people contend that in a present time we can watch movies on our mobile phones and tablets so we not need to go for movies in cinema, others maintain that if we want to fully enjoy a movie then cinema is great choice. In my opinion, watching a film in both ways has its own fun. It’s a person’s own choice rather than global.

On the one hand, people who prefer to watch movies on sell phones think that it is waste of time and money when we visit to cinema to watch movies because same thing is available on our phones for example we have to buy tickets for movie and have to commute to other places for a movie. moreover, in cinema we are not cut movie from between but on mobile we can watch it in slots

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under-length at 142 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you attempt to address both sides of the argument, the points are underdeveloped and lack the necessary supporting examples or depth required for a Task 2 essay. The position is stated, but the explanation is too brief to fully explore the topic. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you reach the word count to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction and one body paragraph, but the structure is incomplete as there is no conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is minimal; for example, 'moreover' is used, but the overall flow is disjointed due to the lack of a clear paragraph structure and the abrupt ending. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the response stops mid-thought. To improve, ensure you have a clear introduction, at least two well-developed body paragraphs, and a concluding summary, using a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'in a present time' and 'go for movies' are unnatural. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'sell phones' instead of 'cell phones' or 'mobile phones', and 'not cut movie from between'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to technology and entertainment, and try to use more precise terminology to express your ideas clearly and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'we not need to go' (should be 'we do not need to go') and 'it is waste of time' (missing article 'a'). Sentence structures are simple and often lack correct punctuation. The lack of complex sentence structures limits your ability to demonstrate grammatical range. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and incorporating a variety of complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, while ensuring they are punctuated correctly.
