Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, due to technologycal advancement individuals prefer watch movies on their phones or iPads while other argue that it is best to watch movies in theater to enjoy real. In this essay I will discuss both views and give my opinion at the end.

On the one hand, watching movies in phones or tablets has their own benefits. Firstly, individuals can watch whenever they have a free time. For example, a person who is free on Sunday, he is watching is favorite old movie with his family which are not available on cinema because it is old movie. Secondly, if they have a old members in house they can not go to outside, they can also enjoy some time via watching movies in TV. As a result of that, they can save some money as well as enjoy their own snacks which they can not take in to the cinema.

One the other hand, prefer cinema is also the best way to enjoy, because in theater people can not only receive a high picture quality, but also a best sound which create a vibe to enjoy that. Moreover, visitors can go with their friend and family to enjoy quality time and do something new from their routine activity. However, watching a new realse movie is not possible to seen at home. Therefore, citizens has to go at cinema. On the negative side, people can spend waste their money to buying snacks and cold drinks.

In a nutshell, watching film at theater or at home as their own advantages, but cinema gives more realistic feeling then phone or tablets.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'old members' in the house is a relevant point, but it lacks depth. The discussion on cinema benefits is also quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or specific examples. While the position is clear throughout, the overall development of the arguments remains at a basic level, which is characteristic of a Band 6 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell' to link your thoughts. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the sentence 'a person who is free on Sunday, he is watching is favorite old movie'. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words would help elevate this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'technologycal' and 'realse', and word choice issues like 'enjoy real' and 'prefer cinema'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to media and entertainment, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling to ensure your meaning is always clear and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading, such as 'individuals prefer watch' (should be 'prefer watching'), 'a old members' (should be 'older members'), and 'citizens has to go' (should be 'citizens have to go'). Punctuation and article usage also need attention. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
