Student answer (Band 4.5)
The argument about best option to watch a cinema while fully enjoying, whether on our phones or a cinema hall remains debatable. I strongly believe that watching a movie in a theatre is more fun because it creates enjoyable atmosphere.
First of all, we know that movies are mostly fictional, so it is the emotions in the story that makes it fun to watch. Watching with hundreds of others in a cinema hall, undergoing the same emotional feelings creates

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 79 words. Because the essay is incomplete, it fails to address all parts of the task. The prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, but the response cuts off mid-sentence before developing the second perspective or providing a full argument. Consequently, the ideas are severely underdeveloped and the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, two body paragraphs covering both sides of the argument, and a clear conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction, the text ends abruptly, preventing the development of a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the lack of a complete essay structure makes it difficult to assess the flow of arguments. To achieve a higher band, you need to organize your response into clear paragraphs, using linking words such as 'furthermore', 'however', and 'consequently' to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, such as 'fun' and 'enjoyable'. There is an attempt to use some topic-related vocabulary like 'theatre' and 'fictional', but the range is too limited to demonstrate flexibility or precision. The phrasing 'watch a cinema' is also inaccurate; one watches a film in a cinema. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of entertainment and technology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex structures, but the grammatical control is inconsistent. There are errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'argument about best option to watch a cinema' and 'undergoing the same emotional feelings'. The sentence structure is generally understandable, but the lack of length limits the opportunity to demonstrate a wide range of complex grammatical forms. Focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and using more varied sentence structures to improve your accuracy and range.
