This essay will discuss both the views before explaining why I believe that watching films in a cinema provides a more enjoyable and immersive experience.
To begin with, there is an array of advantages of watching films on phones and tablets. The most important one to be considered is that it is convenient to watch movies at any time and place without leaving home. People can watch during breaks at work or while travelling. Another crucial advantage is that watching movies on phones or tablets is cheaper than cinema tickets, especially for families with multiple children. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and well-supported with logical arguments, such as convenience and cost for home viewing versus sound quality and social aspects for cinemas. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the conclusion could be more effectively developed; currently, it merely summarizes the points rather than synthesizing the argument to reinforce the final stance. However, the task is fully addressed with a clear development of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Another crucial advantage', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. The flow is smooth, and the relationship between ideas is clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task and allows for some precision. You use appropriate terms like 'immersive experience', 'household distractions', and 'accessible'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'beneficial factors of watching movies' in the conclusion, which sounds slightly unnatural. However, the range is adequate to convey your meaning clearly, and you attempt to use less common vocabulary to describe the benefits of both mediums. The spelling is generally accurate throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You use complex sentences effectively, such as 'While others say that to be fully enjoyed, movies need to be seen in cinema.' There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as the missing article in 'seen in cinema' and the typo 'ned' in the introduction. Additionally, the final sentence contains a punctuation error with 'costspilso'. Despite these occasional errors, the grammar is generally controlled, and the errors do not impede communication or cause confusion for the reader.
