Student answer (Band 6.5)
Entertainment has become an importatnt part of today's busy life of individuals. A few people think that movies can be watched on smartphones and tablets instead of doing this activity at theatre. Others believe that cinemas are vital to go to enjoy the films more. This essay will discuss both views with an opinion at the end.
On the one hand, nowadays, people are dealing with the hectic lifestyle which does not allow them to visit any cinema to watch a movie. So, it is more accessible and convenient to use technological gadgets which also let them pause and continue anytime and anywhere. Secondly, some individuals can not afford the expense of travelling to any theatre to see the films. Therefore, they prefer to save the cost of ticket, travel and food as well. For example, many people in India favour watching movies at home on their tablets rather then going out to any cinema.
On the other hand, the atmosphere of theatres is very differet such as, the big screen, the sound system, the confortable seating and the environment which make the experience of watching a movie more realistic and enjoyable. Moreover, sometimes individuals want to spend time with their family and friends by deciding to see a film together. Eventually, this helps them to communicate and share their stories with each other.
In conclusion, using phones and tables can help people to have comfortable experience and can save money. However, cinemas can provide more enjoyable experience and a chance to socialize with loved ones. In my opinion, i think it all depends on the choice of individuals and i would go for watching movies in cinemas if i need to choose one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of home viewing versus the immersive atmosphere of cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the point about social interaction in cinemas is mentioned but could be expanded with more depth to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion clearly states the writer's preference. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more detailed examples or reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the cost argument and the example in the first body paragraph is a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'hectic lifestyle', 'accessible', and 'realistic'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'importatnt', 'theatre' (used inconsistently with 'theatres'), 'differet', and 'confortable'. Additionally, the word choice is sometimes repetitive. While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the message, the presence of spelling mistakes and the lack of more sophisticated, less common lexical items limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is a reasonable attempt at complex sentences, such as 'the atmosphere of theatres is very differet such as, the big screen... which make the experience... more realistic'. However, there are frequent minor errors, including punctuation issues (e.g., missing commas, incorrect capitalization of 'i'), and minor grammatical slips like 'rather then' instead of 'rather than'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
