Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph attempts to support the cinema experience, the second paragraph regarding home viewing is underdeveloped and lacks sufficient depth. The conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'co', which fails to summarize the main points or restate the opinion effectively. The response touches on relevant ideas like sound quality and cost, but the lack of elaboration and the unfinished nature of the essay prevent it from reaching a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'Furthermore', but the flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and missing transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which negatively impacts the overall structure. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of full sentences and coherent arguments in the latter half of the essay. The text feels disjointed in several places, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. While there are attempts at more sophisticated language like 'salient' and 'indubitable', these are sometimes used incorrectly or in unnatural collocations. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'forst and foremost' (spelling) and 'avoid to go out side' (incorrect verb pattern). The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors limit the score. More variety in topic-specific vocabulary related to media and entertainment would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles ('in cinemas sound system'), incorrect subject-verb agreement, and punctuation errors. Sentence construction is often fragmented or awkward, such as 'some movies popular and you can enjoy them'. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the flow of reading. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of control over basic grammatical rules and the incomplete final sentence significantly lower the score for this criterion.
