Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention convenience and cost for watching films on phones, and social bonding for cinemas, the points are not fully extended with deep analysis. For instance, the argument about 'old people' being uncomfortable is a good point, but it lacks specific detail to make it fully persuasive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a concrete example or a more detailed explanation of the 'why' and 'how' behind your reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly'. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between sentences is weak. For example, the transition between the benefits of phones and the mention of 'old people' feels abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'it is very uncomfortable', where the 'it' does not clearly refer back to a specific noun. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'watch a film' and 'good idea'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'motivate to the film industry' instead of 'support the film industry' and 'buy tickets of the movie' instead of 'buy tickets for the movie'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to cinema, technology, and social habits, and focus on using more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, particularly with verb forms and sentence structure. For example, you consistently use 'watch' instead of the gerund 'watching' (e.g., 'it is a good idea watch films'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'films on phone is more comfortable' and 'people can also motivate'. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by these persistent errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of gerunds after prepositions or as subjects, and ensure your subjects and verbs agree in number.
