Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph effectively discusses the cinema experience, the second paragraph regarding home viewing is less focused, drifting into a discussion about content types (web series vs. films) rather than focusing on the viewing experience itself. The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph directly supports the prompt's core question about the necessity of the cinema experience versus home convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all' and 'To commence with', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'Overall into this'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the internal logic within paragraphs is tighter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific terminology like 'immersive audio-visual experience' and '4K laser projections'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'technological advanced world' (technologically), 'general public stats' (states), and 'soared to sky' (soared to the skies). Some phrasing is non-idiomatic, which occasionally hinders the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on correct collocations would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('this screens provide'), article usage ('the big screen cinema'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with grammatical accuracy.
