Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, satisfying the prompt's requirements. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about government revenue is a bit tangential to the core debate of viewing experience versus convenience. While the position is clear, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The conclusion is brief and lacks a strong summary of the main points, which limits the overall depth of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used to signal the structure. However, the use of punctuation is often mechanical and sometimes incorrect, such as the unnecessary spaces before commas (e.g., 'days ,a', 'is , flexibility'). Additionally, some referencing is slightly repetitive, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'subscription', 'revenue', and 'entertainment industry'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'telecasted on these networking sites' (which is not standard usage) and 'it depends on person to person'. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more precise collocations and a broader range of academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more fluently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every individual have', 'every ticket... contribute') and article usage. Punctuation is a significant issue, with erratic spacing around commas and inconsistent capitalization. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. To improve, the student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining sentence construction to reduce errors in complex structures.
