Student answer (Band 6.0)

The advancement of the technology changes the prospective of the audience as they are trying to find the some alternatives of the main source. It is commonly seen in the entertainment field that some of the population prefer to watch movies on their handheld devices rather than visiting to their local cinemas while some of them say that enjoyment can be only possible if it is seen on the big screen. This essay will throw the light on both the aspects and my review regarding the topic.

The main reason to visit and watch the film in the theatre is the environment as there are a lot people watching at the same time so one could control himself so that others should not get disturbed. Moreover, the quality and sound is so fine that one can internally feel the concept and thought process of the producer. For example there are a few movies which are in three dimensional which is not possible to see it on any other devices as they will not provide the level of quality that cinemas are providing nowadays.

On the other hand, the mobiles are so comfortable mode of watching any films as the control is always in one's hand. The person can play, pause, reverse and forward anytime. There is no need to sit and watch in one go as one can watch whenever there is a free time. Not only this, it saves both the time and money as one needs to travel to watch the pictures where the will buy some things to eat, for which cinema halls are charging so high but one can save it by spending just few amount of money on the internet.

In my opinion, one should go occasionally to cinema whenever there is some special movie released but otherwise phone are best mode for this type of entertainment.

In conclusion, watching the movies on smart devices save money, time and give them full control while cinema hall provide the quality, feeling and environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the social environment of cinemas versus the convenience of mobile devices. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'three dimensional' movies is a good example, but the explanation of why mobile devices are 'best' is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning or specific examples to ensure the discussion is fully developed throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'the quality and sound is so fine' without specifying what exactly is being compared. Additionally, some transitions feel repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advancement', 'entertainment field', and 'handheld devices'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'throw the light on' (should be 'shed light on'), 'visiting to their local cinemas' (should be 'visiting local cinemas'), and 'pictures' to refer to films. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific collocations would help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the technology', 'the mobiles'), subject-verb agreement ('the quality and sound is'), and preposition usage ('visiting to'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'one could control himself so that others should not get disturbed'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and pluralization, which currently occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy.
