Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether cinemas are still needed or if phones/tablets suffice, and the writer provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the reasons provided for watching films on phones, such as being the 'cheapest way to enjoy movies at home without go anywhere', lack depth and specific illustration. Similarly, the arguments for the cinema touch on socializing and bigger screens, but these points are expressed in a repetitive and overly generalized manner. According to the Band 5 and Band 6 descriptors, the task is addressed, but development is basic, leading to an overall score of 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic organizational structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and poor cohesive devices. For example, the opening sentence 'It is issue of debate' lacks proper article usage and introduces the topic rather mechanically. Within the body paragraphs, referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive links like 'Apart from that' and 'Moreover' are used repetitively. Paragraphing is attempted, but the overall arrangement feels disjointed in places, reflecting the characteristics of Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, featuring common phrases such as 'cheapest way', 'expensive theater tickets', and 'busy schedule'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'workaholic', 'hustle bustle', and 'enormous profit', but these attempts are often marred by awkward collocation or inaccurate usage, as seen in 'many movies are earn enormous profit' and 'for create strong bonding'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but frequent word-choice errors and a limited range of sophisticated items place this performance firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though the attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('It is issue of debate', 'to cinema'), incorrect verb forms ('without go anywhere', 'everyone have', 'movies are earn'), and preposition errors ('in my viewpoints'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas (e.g., 'For Example ,'). While these errors do not completely obscure the writer's meaning, their high frequency across most sentences prevents the essay from reaching a Band 6, resulting in a score of 5.0.
