IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now we can see films on our phones or tablets there is no need to go to the cinema. Others say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a cinema.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people can watch films on their phones, tablets and other devices. Some people believe that there is no need to go to the cinema. However, others think that films are more enjoyable in a cinema. This will discuss the both views.

On the one hand, watching films on a phone or tablet is easy and convenient. People can watch movies at home at any time. They do not need to travel to cinema or spend money on tickets. They can also pause the film, take a break, or watch it with family members. For example, a person can watch a film on a tablet while sitting comfortably at home. This is especially useful for busy people.

On the other hand, many people prefer cinemas because they provide a better experience. Cinemas have large screens and powerful sound system, which make films more exciting. People can also enjoy the atmosphere of watching a film with other viewers. For instance, action and advanture films can be much more enjoyable on a large screen because the pictures and sounds feel more impressive.

In my opinion, both options have advantages, but I prefer watching important or exciting films in a cinema. Watching at home is better for comfort and convenience, while a cinema provides a more enjoyable and memorable experience.

overall, phones and tablets make watching films simple and convenient, but cinemas offer a special experience with a large screen, good sound. Therefore, the best choice depends on the person's situation and preference.
