Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is ongoing debate about whether people should watch flim at home or in cinemas. Some member of society believe that modern technology has made cinemas unnecessary, while others opine that flims can only be fully enjoyed in a cinema. Both trend have thier own adavanatges.I firmly believe that watching flims in a cinema provides a better overall experienece.I will elaborate on resons with relevant examples in these paragraphs.
To commence with, according to latter view, flims need to be seen in a cinema to be fully enjoyed. One major reason is that cinema provide a much larger screen and a high quality sound system. These features allow viewes to become more interesting and engaging. Moreover, cinemas have a dark and quite envrionments
which helps people concentrate on the flim without distraction. Therefore,I too agree with this view because cinemas offers a more immersive and enjoyable ex[erience.
On the other hand, first group of people, there is no need to visit a cinema because flims can now be watched on smart television and mobile phone. The main adavantage is conveninence.people can watch their favourite movies at any time and from any location. They do not have to travel to cinema and wait for a particular show time.Furthermore, watching flims at home can be cheaper because people do not need to pay for tickets, transportation and expensive snacks. For instance, people can simply use a streaming service and watch comfortably ona tablet.Despite these advantages,I do not completely agree wuth this view because small screens and weaker sound systems can not provide the same experience as cinema.
Accordling to my opinion, cinema will continue to be important even through technology has made home environment easier.A cinema can provide excellent picture quality, powerfull sound and adistraction free atmosphere.
To sum up,it can be said that, watching flims on phones and tablet is conveninet, flexible and often less expensive. However, cinema provide a large screen, better sound and a more immersive social experience. Therefore,I

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas are obsolete due to home technology and that films must be seen in a cinema for full enjoyment—while clearly stating the writer's own opinion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are generally well-supported with reasons, such as mentioning screen size, sound quality, convenience, and cost. However, some arguments lack deeper extension, and the conclusion cuts off abruptly mid-sentence, which slightly detracts from full task completion. Nevertheless, the main requirements of the task are suitably covered, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.5 to 7.0. Given the solid coverage of both perspectives and a clear personal stance, a Band 6.5 is appropriate here.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a logical overall progression with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, and a concluding attempt. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, such as in sentences like 'To commence with, according to latter view...' and 'On the other hand, first group of people...'. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical, inaccurate, or missing, leading to choppy transitions. Furthermore, spacing errors and punctuation issues, such as missing spaces after commas and periods throughout the text, disrupt the visual flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in missing articles like 'according to latter view' and 'cinema provide'. Overall cohesion is coherent enough for easy reading despite these mechanical flaws, supporting a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using topic-specific terms like 'streaming service', 'convenience', 'transportation', and 'atmosphere'. There are, however, frequent spelling errors ('flim' instead of film, 'adavanatges', 'experienece', 'resons', 'quite' instead of quiet, 'envrionments', 'adavantage', 'conveninet') and word-form inaccuracies ('viewes to become more interesting' instead of interested). Less common vocabulary is attempted with mixed success. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching a higher band. The lexical range is sufficient for the requirements, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like 'There is ongoing debate about whether...' and 'Despite these advantages, I do not completely agree...'. However, grammatical accuracy is notably weakened by frequent errors in articles ('watch flim', 'in cinema', 'to cinema'), subject-verb agreement ('cinema provide', 'cinemas offers'), and punctuation/spacing. Additionally, the essay ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence ('Therefore, I'). While complex structures are attempted, the high density of basic grammatical and punctuation errors means that error-free sentences are not in the majority. This profile corresponds to a Band 5.5.
